Can a solar roller shutter run completely off-grid?

Yes. The photovoltaic panel and rechargeable battery drive a low-energy tubular motor independently of the mains, so the shutter can operate at remote and off-grid sites. We size the panel and battery to your cycles per day and local solar exposure.

What happens during long periods of bad weather?

The battery stores enough charge for normal operation between recharges, and a manual override (gear crank or chain) is retained so the door can still be operated during extended low-sunlight periods. We can increase battery capacity for sites with long cloudy seasons.

Is a solar shutter as durable as a mains-powered one?

Yes. The curtain, guides and drive are built and validated like every RAX shutter – 100,000-cycle fatigue tested and CE marked to EN 13241. The solar system only changes the power source, not the door’s mechanical durability.

Do you provide installation for the Solar Powered Roller Shutter?
