Overhead Sectional Door — RAX Door Technology
01 · Overview

Overhead Sectional Door at a Glance

The Overhead Sectional Door is the workhorse of industrial openings: horizontal panels rise vertically along side tracks and rest parallel to the ceiling, keeping the entire floor area in front of and behind the doorway clear for traffic, docks and machinery.

RAX manufactures every door to order in our own plant from 40–50 mm PU foam insulated steel sandwich panels with galvanized steel skins (0.4–1.5 mm), running on standard-lift, high-lift or low-headroom track hardware with nylon PA66 rollers. Torsion springs are high-cycle units validated in our 100,000-cycle fatigue lab. Panel layout, glazing windows, wicket doors, pass-through options and RAL finish are all specified per project instead of chosen from a fixed catalogue.

Common applications include warehouse dock doors, logistics centers, fire stations, car dealerships and commercial service entrances. Hardware, springs and operators are cycle-rated to match how often the door actually runs, which is what keeps total cost of ownership low over the life of the opening. Send us the opening dimensions, headroom and daily cycle estimate, and our engineering team will return a tailored proposal with technical drawings.

Industry benchmark values are attributed to their sources (Hörmann via renrendoc.com; CN-export listings via ecer.com; EN standard scopes via antpedia.com / baijiahao). RAX product-specific test data (U-value, wind class, fire rating) is confirmed per project.

How to Specify (Buyer Guide)

1. Lift System & Headroom

Standard lift parks the door beneath the ceiling; high-lift stacks panels higher for tall vehicles; low-headroom hardware squeezes under tight lintels. Tell us the clear height above the opening and we pick the right system.

2. Panel & Insulation

40–50 mm PU foam panels insulate docks and service bays. Specify RAL color and surface profile (woodgrain or stucco embossment) for consistency with the building envelope.

3. Glazing, Wicket & Layout

Window sections, wicket pass-doors and panel joint lines are laid out per project — useful for dealerships and fire stations where visibility and pedestrian access matter.

4. Duty Cycle & Operator

Estimate daily cycles for each opening. Springs and operators are cycle-rated to match — the single biggest lever on lifetime cost of ownership. Radar sensing and remote control available.

05 · Customization

OEM / ODM & Customization

RAX supports full private-label production of the Overhead Sectional Door: custom RAL panel colors, operator matching, packaging printing and installation-manual translation (EN/ES/FR/AR/RU). Start with an OEM sample and scale to container-load branded production. Custom molds, tooling records are archived for up to 5 years — no extra tooling fee on repeat orders, all under strict NDA.

06 · Compliance

Applicable Standards

EN 13241

Product standard for industrial doors — CE marking basis. Covers structural strength, operating forces, durability, thermal and wind performance.

EN 12424 / EN 12444

Wind load classification (Class 0–5) and test method. Benchmark: 450 N/m² ≈ Class 3 (CN-export, ecer.com). RAX confirms the class per project.

EN 12604 / EN 12453

Mechanical safety (tracks, springs, anti-drop) and power-operated safety (force limits, entrapment protection).

Which lift system should I choose — standard, high-lift or low-headroom?

It depends on your building. Standard lift parks the panels horizontally beneath the ceiling and suits most dock and warehouse openings. High-lift stacks panels higher to clear tall vehicles like trucks or fire appliances. Low-headroom hardware compresses the track curve for tight lintels. Share your headroom and side room measurements and we confirm the right system with drawings.

How large can an overhead sectional door be built?

Every door is custom engineered to your opening, from a single dock door to wide multi-panel spans for logistics centers. There is no fixed catalogue size — send the opening dimensions and our engineers confirm the maximum span and panel layout with technical drawings.

Can I add windows or a wicket pass-door?

Yes. Glazing sections bring daylight into dealerships and fire stations, and a wicket pass-door lets staff move through without running the full door. Both are laid out per panel at the engineering stage alongside your RAL finish choice.

What wind load class should I specify?

It depends on your site exposure and local code. EN 12424 classifies Class 0–5; a CN-export benchmark lists 450 N/m² (approx. Class 3). For coastal or high-wind sites, Class 4–5 may be required. RAX confirms the class per project and reinforces tracks and panels accordingly.

Do you provide installation?

No — RAX is a pure manufacturer. Orders ship with English manual, wiring diagrams and pre-set operators. Remote technical support is available during installation.

What is the warranty and lead time?

Door body 2 years, operator/motor 3 years (servo 5 years). Free spare parts within warranty, DHL/FedEx 5–7 days. Lead time: standard container 12–20 days; custom first order 20–35 days.
