Also specified as: Hurricane Rated Roller Shutter
A windproof roller shutter engineered for high wind-load and hurricane-exposed openings — reinforced slats and heavy guides rated up to EN 12424 Class 5.
Reinforced curtain, heavy-duty guides and wind-rated engineering — the shutter for exposed, high-wind and hurricane-prone sites.
The windproof roller shutter (hurricane rated roller shutter) is engineered to resist sustained and gusting wind pressure on exposed openings: coastal facilities, high-rise industrial buildings, open yards and hurricane-prone regions. Reinforced slats, deeper wind-lock profiles and heavy-duty guide rails keep the curtain seated and intact under load, where a standard shutter would bow, rattle or fail.
Wind performance is classified to EN 12424 from Class 0 (no performance) to Class 5 (above 1,000 Pa). RAX engineers the curtain, guides and fixings to the class your site demands and confirms it by test per model. For reference, RAX’s spiral high-speed door reaches Wind Load Class 12 on the RAX proprietary scale (peers typically 8–10); roller shutters are rated against the EN 12424 0–5 scale.
RAX-company facts on this page — materials, 100,000-cycle fatigue testing, certifications held, warranty and lead time — are from RAX Door Technology’s approved brand brief. Industry figures are marked [SOURCED] (with the source) or [ESTIMATE] (industry-typical, not independently verified) in the Basis column and are confirmed against your opening on the technical layout. Fire resistance (EI60/EI120) and wind-load class are project-specific capabilities we test and document per order — never blanket certificates.
Every door is engineered to your opening. The values below are the validated baseline; final figures are confirmed on your specification.

Roller shutters are classified to EN 12424 from Class 0 (no wind-load performance) to Class 5 (above 1,000 Pa). RAX engineers the reinforced curtain, guides and fixings to the class your site demands and confirms it by test per model, rating qualified builds up to Class 5.
EN 12424 is the European 0-5 wind-load scale used for roller shutters. Class 12 belongs to the RAX proprietary scale used for our spiral high-speed doors, where peers typically reach 8-10. The two scales are not the same; this shutter is rated against EN 12424.
A windproof shutter uses reinforced slats, wind-lock edge profiles, deeper heavy-duty guide rails and rated structural fixings so the curtain stays seated and intact under sustained and gusting pressure. A standard shutter is built for ordinary exterior duty and would bow or rattle in the same conditions.
We are a pure manufacturer and do not provide on-site installation. Every order ships with an English installation manual, wiring diagrams for your local installation team; operators are pre-set and tested before dispatch.
Held: ISO 9001:2015, CE to EN 13241 (industrial door) and EN 12453 (operator safety), with SGS material reports and Product Liability Insurance. Fire resistance (EI60/EI120) and the wind-load class are project-specific capabilities we test and certify per order against the matching standard – we never overclaim a blanket rating.
