What is a servo control box and why is it different from a standard VFD?

A servo control box combines a VFD (variable-frequency drive) with closed-loop servo control — it continuously monitors motor position, speed and torque via an encoder feedback loop, enabling precise positioning and repeatable speed profiles. A standard VFD only adjusts frequency/voltage in open loop. For high-speed industrial doors, servo control delivers smoother starts, accurate stop positions and better obstruction detection.

Can the RAX servo control box work with third-party motors?

Yes. While RAX control boxes are calibrated in-house for RAX servo motors (ensuring optimal matching), they can also be parameterized for third-party servo motors. Send the motor datasheet (torque curve, encoder type, voltage rating) and our engineers map the VFD parameters accordingly.
