Low Headroom Sectional Door — RAX Door Technology
01 · Overview

Low Headroom Sectional Door at a Glance

The Low Headroom Sectional Door (also called compact-lift) is designed for buildings where space above the opening is severely limited — underground parking, retail units, renovation projects and older industrial buildings with shallow lintels. A compact double-track system minimizes the headroom requirement by folding the panels into a tighter radius, allowing installation where a standard-lift track would not fit.

RAX engineers low-headroom sectional doors to your exact opening (custom engineered to your specification), using 40–50 mm PU foam panels with galvanized steel skins (0.4–1.5 mm). The compact track assembly uses precision-formed steel channel with nylon PA66 rollers for smooth, quiet operation in confined spaces. Torsion springs are validated in RAX’s 100,000-cycle fatigue lab. This configuration is particularly popular with overseas door installers and distributors serving renovation and retrofit markets.

RAX-company facts on this page are from the approved brand brief. Industry benchmark values are attributed to their sources (Hörmann via renrendoc.com; CN-export listings via ecer.com; EN standard scopes via antpedia.com / baijiahao). RAX product-specific test data (U-value, wind class, fire rating) is confirmed per project.

How to Specify (Buyer Guide)

1. Measure Headroom

Critical: measure the exact distance from the top of the opening (lintel) to the nearest obstruction (ceiling, beam, duct). Low-headroom tracks can operate in as little as 150–250 mm. Provide this dimension and we confirm feasibility.

2. Panel Build

In extreme low-headroom situations, thinner panels reduce the track curve radius. We advise on optimal panel thickness (40 mm standard; thinner if needed) while maintaining insulation performance.

3. Spring Position

With limited headroom, torsion springs may be rear-mounted rather than above the lintel. We specify the correct spring arrangement in the technical drawings.

4. Operator Fit

Compact headroom may limit operator choice. Trolley (rail) operators are common for low-headroom garage doors. Confirm operator clearance in our installation drawings.

05 · Customization

OEM / ODM & Customization

RAX supports full private-label production of the Low Headroom Sectional Door: custom RAL panel colors, operator matching, packaging printing and installation-manual translation (EN/ES/FR/AR/RU). Start with an OEM sample and scale to container-load branded production. Custom molds, Tooling records are archived for up to 5 years — no extra tooling fee on repeat orders, all under strict NDA.

06 · Compliance

Applicable Standards

EN 13241

CE marking basis. Low-headroom doors must meet the same safety, thermal and durability requirements as standard configurations.

EN 12604 / EN 12453

Mechanical safety and power-operated safety. Compact track geometry must still provide finger-safe joints and controlled operating forces.

What is the minimum headroom for a low-headroom sectional door?

Depends on panel thickness and door size, but compact-lift tracks can operate in as little as approx. 150–250 mm headroom. Provide your exact lintel-to-ceiling measurement and RAX engineers confirm feasibility with technical drawings.

Does low headroom compromise insulation?

Not necessarily. Standard 40 mm PU panels fit most low-headroom tracks. In extreme cases, slightly thinner panels may be advised, but the closed-cell PU foam still provides effective thermal insulation. We advise on the optimal build for your headroom constraint.

Can I use an electric operator with limited headroom?

Yes — trolley (rail) operators are designed for low-headroom installations. The operator rail mounts horizontally and requires minimal additional clearance. We confirm operator fit in the installation guides.

Is this suitable for renovation/retrofit projects?

Yes — low-headroom sectional doors are specifically designed for existing buildings with limited space above the opening. They are popular with overseas installers serving the renovation market. RAX supports small-batch orders (custom engineered to your specification) with OEM labeling.

Do you provide installation?

No — pure manufacturer. Ships with English manual, wiring diagrams. Remote technical support available.

What is the lead time?

Sample 7–15 days; standard container 12–20 days. Door body 2-year warranty, operator 3 years (servo 5 years).
