One idea: on an exposed wall, the door is the weak point. A weather load rated door is built and tested to take the wind pressure that would bow, rattle and leak a standard exterior door.

Coastal warehouses, desert plants and tall exposed buildings put large exterior doors under real wind pressure. A standard door deflects, the curtain billows out of the guides, the seals open, and rain and dust get in. Wind load resistance for industrial doors is classified on the harmonized EN 12424 scale, which runs from Class 0 (no wind performance declared) up to Class 5 (the highest, above roughly 1,000 Pa). The class is determined by testing the door under positive and negative pressure. RAX markets “Wind Load Class 5 Certified” capability, and the specific class for your door is confirmed per project on the matching EN 12424 test data.

What is the difference between EN 12424 and RAX “Class 12”?

They are different scales and should not be confused. EN 12424 is the harmonized European wind classification for industrial doors, running Class 0–5. RAX’s “Class 12” is a separate proprietary scale used for its spiral high speed doors, on which peer soft-curtain doors typically rate 8–10. A Class 12 spiral door is not the same thing as an EN 12424 Class 5 door. This page uses the EN 12424 scale, confirmed per project.

What makes this door different from a standard exterior door?

Which certifications do you hold for this door?
