Also specified as: Radiation Shielding Door, X-Ray Door
A radiation-shielding door with bonded lead sheet that attenuates X-ray and gamma scatter — specified for radiology, CT, cath-lab and nuclear medicine rooms where staff and public exposure must be controlled.
Radiation protection is a regulatory requirement, not an option. Every opening in an X-ray room — including the door — must provide the same lead equivalence as the surrounding walls to keep scatter dose within occupational limits.
The RAX Lead Lined Door bonds a continuous sheet of pure lead (Pb) to the leaf core, overlapping the frame by a minimum of 20 mm on all sides to eliminate radiation leakage paths at the perimeter. The lead thickness is selected to match the room’s shielding calculation — typically 1–4 mmPb equivalence depending on tube voltage, workload and occupancy factor.
The leaf face is finished flush in powder-coated steel or stainless, with optional lead-glass vision window of matching equivalence. Available as a swing or sliding configuration, manual or automatic, the door integrates with radiology workflow without compromising the shielding envelope.
Lead equivalence values are industry-standard designations (mmPb) per shielding design methodology; the required thickness is determined by the project’s radiation physicist. RAX company facts are from the approved brand brief.
Every door is engineered to your opening. The values below are the validated baseline; final figures are confirmed on your specification.
| Parameter | Specification | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Door Type | Swing or sliding leaf with bonded lead shielding. | RAX configuration |
| Lead Equivalence | 1–4 mmPb (selected per room shielding calculation). | Per project |
| Lead Coverage | Continuous sheet; frame overlap ≥ 20 mm all sides. | RAX design |
| Leaf Face | Flush powder-coated steel, or stainless 304 / 316. | Per project |
| Vision Window | Optional lead glass, matching mmPb equivalence. | Optional |
| Leaf Thickness | 50–70 mm (increased for lead + core sandwich). | Industry-typical |
| Hardware | Heavy-duty hinges / track rated for lead weight. | RAX design |
| Standard Opening | 900–1500 × 2100 mm clear; custom on request. | Industry-typical |
| Cycle Life | 100,000 cycles validated in the RAX fatigue test lab. | RAX-measured |
Lead thickness must match the shielding design report from your radiation physicist. Provide the required mmPb and we engineer the leaf, frame overlap and hardware to carry the additional weight safely.
Validated substrates, processed in-house on an auto PU foam panel line and CNC punching/bending centre.
Match the door to the opening duty — keep each card to one line.
Your installers get the full document set before the door ships.
Certificates we hold today, and the project-specific test data we arrange against the matching standard.
Radiation shielding compliance is validated by the facility’s radiation protection officer after installation; RAX supplies the door to the specified mmPb with material documentation to support your survey.
Large industrial doors from prototype to container-load delivery.
Specify lead thickness, leaf format (swing / sliding), face material, vision window and hardware to match each room’s shielding report. Full OEM/ODM under NDA.
From custom engineering to container-load delivery — the document set your local installers need.
Door body 2-year warranty; operator/motor 3 years (servo 5 years). Free spare parts within warranty, dispatched DHL/FedEx 5–7 days.
Your radiation physicist calculates the required mmPb based on tube voltage (kVp), workload, use factor and occupancy of adjacent spaces. Provide us the shielding design report and we bond the corresponding lead thickness to the leaf.
The lead sheet extends beyond the leaf face and overlaps the lead-lined frame rebate by at least 20 mm on all sides. This stepped overlap eliminates straight-line leakage paths at the perimeter, matching the wall shielding integrity.
Yes. A lead-glass window of matching mmPb equivalence is set flush in the leaf. The glass is framed in stainless and the surrounding lead sheet is continuous beneath the frame to prevent any gap.
Hinges, tracks and operators are selected or reinforced to carry the additional lead weight safely. Swing doors use heavy-duty stainless hinges; sliding doors use a reinforced overhead rail. We confirm the hardware rating on the technical layout.
Sample 7–15 days; standard container 12–20 days; custom first order 20–35 days, repeat orders 15–20 days. FOB Tianjin or Qingdao, FCL and LCL supported.
Factory inspection report, lead equivalence layout drawing, 100,000-cycle fatigue test record, FAI / pre-assembly photos, English installation manual + technical drawing, CE Declaration of Conformity, and export packing with traceable batch number.
